Building Community Through The Art Of Bonsai

Club Meetings
Sei Boku Bonsai Kai is proud of the enthusiasm and joy that it provides for our members and the community, conveniently located on the peninsula, south of San Francisco. We welcome anyone with interest in bonsai to attend our monthly meetings and join our club.

Our monthly club meetings excluding December are held on the  4th Wednesday of each month, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  We are currently holding face-face meetings but this may change by month. Vaccination required and face masks are recommended to help protect the membership

When we can meet in person, our location is at the San Mateo Garden Center, 605 Parkside Way, San Mateo, CA right off the Alameda de las Pulgas, in Beresford Park.

November Meeting

November 21st at 7:00PM— 9:00 (Garden Center) – SPECIAL DATE!

We’ve always maintained we can learn techniques from other bonsai artists. For this month’s meeting, SBBK is bringing up Southern California deciduous specialist, Michael Roberts. He has perfected the technique of creating heavily ramified deciduous trees, with the goal of showing trees in his home club, Baikoen bonsai club’s winter silhouette show. Recently, one of his trees was accepted for the Pacific Bonsai Expo.

Michael will be demonstrating on a Trident Maple, taking it from a 5-gallon container into the initial stage of rapid development and inform us on steps to continue the process. The tree will be raffled off to a lucky winner.
